Miami Art Basel Part 2

I started this entry for Art Basel in December, thought it was time to finish it up for good...

Breakfast!

Headed to the big show- Art Basel at the Convention Center. Took a few hours to weed through all the booths. Here are a few things that caught my eye.

Walton Ford

Keith Haring

Kenny Scharf

Peter Saul

Ran into Mars and family.. here's his kid Atlas. Very cute!

Phillip Guston

Barbara Kruger

Not sure who's this was but I liked it.

Pure Awesome!

Always love Kerry James Marshall's work.

The big Fuck You sign.

This duck paint squirter thing was pretty cool. I'd like to see it in action.

Ryden's new work.

Mirror car outside convention center.

Took a stroll on the beach to look for shells...

Found jellyfish

And a sponge. Not too many cool shells.

We ran into David Choe and he told us about a Peruvian restaurant called Chalan On The Beach. We checked it out and ate there, it was very good. Incoming food porn..

Yeah we were pretty stuffed. The food in Miami is wonderful and filling.

Ran into these guys...Yoskay, Tessar and Edwin. Always nice to see these dudes.

Had a Pdiddy sighting.

While walking we accidentally found an art show of toy related goodness..

Found a bunch of artists eating dinner at a sausage hut.. Chris Ryniak, Travis Louie, Brandt Peters, Kathie Olivas, Mark Murphy, Molly Crabapple, Fred Harper, Mark & Esther, Ron English, Cathie Bleck, Carrie Ann Baade, Ann Field, Mars, David Choong Lee, and too many more to name...

Some of us did a collaborative drawing.

Mars' dad told us a great UFO story..

Several of us ended up back at Jonathan Levine's pad and hung out with his staff, Adam Wallacavage and the awesome Kelsey Brooks.

The next day went to Aqua hotel fair across the street...

This was awesome! Richard Coleman

Mark Todd

Neckface

New Image Art staff final picture before it was time to catch a taxi back to the airport...

Our plane was very late, and very overbooked but we got on the flight. A very exhausted Jeff and Jon (dang he looks like a pissed off Jedi!)... can't wait till next year, thanks Scion for making it happen.

This Is Los Angeles- Estevan Oriol

Yesterday I had the pleasure to meet one of L.A's greats, photographer Estevan Oriol. This guy doesn't use fancy cameras or lighting, no assistants, just pure skills, talent and a traditional film camera. That's what it's all about. He has a show going on at Suru this Saturday night. I'm unable to make it but those that can, go check it out!
