Eddie Vedder Melbourne Print

I loved visiting Melbourne in 2009, and can't wait to come back with the family. I stayed in St. Kilda and explored Melbourne by bus, tram and foot. Beautiful place, great people. I jumped at the opportunity to do a poster for Eddie Vedder playing at the Palais Theatre, which was around the corner from my hotel. I even had my own photos of the venue and the creepy/cool Luna Park head. I used my own photo reference for the Melbourne skyline (as seen from St. Kilda pier). This print matches up with the Brisbane print to complete a diptych. It was a lot of work, all hand drawn, but I like the results....

Eddie Vedder Screenprint

I was asked to design a poster for Eddie Vedder's Australian solo tour. I have a deep love for Australia- the people, the culture, the wildlife; I had a wonderful time visiting and can't wait to go back. I wanted this poster to reflect Eddie Vedder's rich acoustic storytelling mixed with elements of Brisbane and my own personal observations of Australia.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm continuing to try new techniques in screenprinting and feeling more confident. I know the actual printing is a somewhat mechanical process, so I continue to hand draw as much as I can on my light table.

Fall 2010

Fall 2010 shot by like a whirlwind. I had travel, conferences or family happenings every single weekend from July to November. Somehow I ended up with three business trips to NYC which is fine by me, I love the big ol' apple and Fall is an excellent time to visit. I went to Japan with Maxx (upcoming blog entry) and ended it all with a trip to Miami. Hoping to slow down in 2011! But not too slow... here's some pictures...

Black Book Sessions

I am one of the judges for the Black Book Sessions art contest, which takes place Saturday January 22 at Westwood College in Anaheim. There's three age categories between 9 and 25, and no entry fees. Check it out:

Miami 2010

Got into Miami a bit early and left early before all the art openings really started to go off. Kinda bummed I didn't get to see a single art fair, but I guess I was more interested in painting this year.

I was asked to add a mural to the Wynwood Walls project that was started last year. I brought Maxx242 out to help and to paint with him on a separate wall.
